Bill-splitter is built by a small independent team. Email is the only channel — we don't run social accounts, ticketing systems, or a support forum. If you write, a real person reads it.
What to send us
- Support questions. A receipt that didn't parse, an item that the OCR mis-read, a session that wouldn't load on a friend's phone. Including the make and model of the device — and a screenshot if you have one — gets you a faster answer.
- Bug reports. What you did, what happened, what you expected. We're a small team, so the more specific the report, the faster we can fix it. If you're a developer and want to send a Git patch or pull request, even better.
- Privacy requests and takedowns. Because sessions self-delete after 30 minutes, there's normally nothing to retrieve or remove on our side. But if you believe a specific live session contains data that should be erased before the timer runs out — or you want to report misuse of the service — write and we'll act on it same-day where we reasonably can.
- Press and partnerships. Happy to chat about collaborations, integrations, or coverage. We don't accept paid placements or sponsored content on the site.
- Feedback. Honest, opinionated reactions are the most valuable email we receive. If something feels off, please say so. If something works particularly well, telling us makes a difference too.
What we can't help with
- Recovering an expired session. Once the 30-minute timer runs out, the session file is deleted from disk and there is no backup. We rebuild your trust by not retaining it; the trade-off is that we can't restore what's gone.
- Identifying other participants. All participants are anonymous. We don't have email addresses, phone numbers, or any identifier we could match to a person.
- Splitting bills that aren't restaurant receipts. The OCR pipeline is tuned for restaurant receipts and similar line-item printouts. Grocery receipts and utility bills technically work but may give patchy results.
- Refunds for the free tier. Bill-splitter has no paid tier. If you donated and would like the donation reversed, contact Stripe directly via the receipt they emailed you.
Before you write
Most questions we receive are already covered elsewhere on the site. Saving the round-trip helps both sides:
- Pricing, signups, supported formats, group size, language support, what happens to the receipt. Covered in the FAQ.
- How splitting actually works in tricky scenarios (shared appetisers, drinks rounds, the friend who left early, tax on top vs VAT-inclusive, tipping by country) — covered in the bill-splitting guide.
- What we collect, retain, and log — covered in full on the privacy policy.
- What you agree to by using the site — covered on the terms page.
If your question isn't there, please do write. We genuinely appreciate the email.
Mailing address
For paper correspondence on legal or compliance matters, please first email [email protected] so we can route the request appropriately and confirm the postal address that applies in your case.
Reporting abuse
Bill-splitter is designed to be anonymous and ephemeral, which means it can in theory be misused. If you encounter someone using a live session to share content that doesn't belong — or you find a security vulnerability — please email us with the session URL or a brief proof-of-concept. We take security reports seriously and respond promptly; coordinated disclosure is welcome.
